In Numerology, a number for the purpose of assessing the prospects of the Name means any number between 1 and 9.

In Numerology the numbers are reduced to a single digit.

If the total numerical value of a name by adding the value of all the letters in a name is 54, the numerical value of the number for the purpose of Numerology is 5+4= 9.

If the total numeric value of a name is 67, 6 and 7 are added together and the value we obtain is 13.

Again 1 and 3 are added with each other and the net numerological value of the name carrying a total numeric of 67 is 4.

Thus the numerological value of the name or date of birth is reduced to a single digit.
This is applied in respect of a name and as well the date of birth.

If the date of birth of a child is 25-11-2009, the total is arrived at adding 2+5+1+1+2+0+0+9=20.  The resultant number is 20.

This is again added with one another.  2+0=2.

The net single digit total of the date of birth is thus 2, for the purpose of arriving at the fadic number (being called fate number or birth total number).
The numbers reduced to a single digit will fall between 1 and 9 (both 1 & 9 included).

The Numbers from 1 to 9 are assigned to one Graha in the Navagraha family.
Number  1 (One)      is assigned to   Sooriyan

Number  2 (Two)      is assigned to   Chandran

Number  3 (Three)    is assigned to   Guru

Number  4 (Four)     is assigned to   Raahu

Number  5 (Five)      is assigned to   Budhan

Number  6 (Six)        is assigned to   Sukran

Number  7 (Seven)   is assigned to   Kethu

Number  8 (Eight)     is assigned to   Sani

and

Number  9 (Nine)      is assigned to   Sevvai.
Normally a child born in a particular number is believed to be under the influence of the Graha to which the particular number is assigned.

In drawing the numerological value of a name, the English Alphabets are considered.   Each of the 26 letters in English Alphabet is assigned one of the 9 single digit numbers.
Letters  A, I,  J,  Q, Y    are assigned to Number      1   (One)

Letters  B, K, R             are assigned to Number      2   (Two)

Letters  C, G, L, S         are assigned to Number      3   (Three)

Letters  D, M,  T            are assigned to Number      4   (Four)

Letters  E, H, N, X         are assigned to Number      5  (Five)

Letters   U, V, W           are assigned to Number      6  (Six)

Letters   O, Z                are assigned to                    7   (Seven)

Letters   F, P                are assigned to                 8   (Eight)
Number 9 and value 0 are not assigned to any alphabet, for the reason that when the two values 0 & 9 are added to any other value, the result will return the same original number.

For example:  6+0 = 6 and 6+9 = 15 = 6
                     7+0 = 7 and 7+9 = 16 = 7

Thus the same original value will be returned as result even after adding 9 or 0.  As such, these two values are not included in assigning letters to the Numerological Values.

The number value assigned to each letter in the alphabet is applied to the name.  The value of all the letters in the name is put together and the aggregate number is arrived at.

The aggregate number of the name is then reduced to a single digit by adding all the values together.   If the Name of the individual is Rangarajan, the numerical value of the name works out as 2, 1, 5, 3, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 5.

The total of all the numbers in the alphabets of the name put together is now 22.

22 is reduced to a single digit both numbers together.  This results in 2+2 = 4.

Now the Numerological Value of the Name Rangarajan is 4.

Number 4 represents Raahu.
